Air conditioners produce more cooling power than either fans or
evaporative coolers, however are more expensive to buy and run. They
also have imitations about how and where they can be
used/installed.

Evaporative
coolers use the evaporation of water on moving air to produce a cooling
effect. They take the 'edge' of the heat on hot days. Ideal for large
well ventilated spaces where air conditioning would not be cost
effective. Better that a fan but not as 'cooling' as air
conditioning. |

Cooling
air by using air movement is the oldest trick in the book and it does
have some effectiveness. Using a fan to move air around a room increased
the evaporation from skin which makes us feel slightly cool. |
